STAGE APP TIPS AND TRICKS

Easily access images.
Create a folder in your photo library that contains all the images you plan to use in a lesson. The Stage App makes it easy to pull images from folders for quick access in your presentations.
Save lesson content.
Tap the snapshot icon (located in the upper right corner) to capture the screen image. This feature allows you to prepare screens ahead of time and pull them up during your presentation by selecting the saved screen image in your photo library and using it as a background.
Prepare labels ahead of time.
The plus (+) icon in the label tray allows you to add labels there and edit them for later use. These can then be tapped into place when needed for the day’s lessons.
Take a break when recording.  (iPad only)
Use the recording pause feature when annotating and changing backgrounds. Not only does this reduce the length of the video, but also allows you to collect your thoughts and produce perfect content prior to resuming recording.
Change recording settings.  (iPad only)
Access the recording settings in the main menu (the icon on the lower left corner). You can change the recording quality and mute/unmute audio.

 Q. Where are my videos saved? 
The Stage App automatically saves your videos to the iPad Photo Library.
 
 Q. How do I export videos to use on my computer? 
The Stage App automatically saves your videos to the iPad Photo Library. To transfer the files to your computer connect your iPad with your USB cable and then import them using iPhoto or your favorite photo management software.
 
 Q. How do I prepare images to use as backgrounds to use in the Stage App? 
The Stage App can use any image from your photo library as a background. You can take photos with the camera on your tablet or take a screenshot (by pressing sleep and home at the same time for iPad or similar button combination for Android tablets and phones). Using the Stage App, tap the snapshot icon (located in the top tool bar) to capture what’s on screen. This will let you prepare screens ahead of time.
 
 Q. How do I change the recording settings? 
Tap and hold the Record icon to access the recording settings. You can change the recording quality and mute/unmute audio.
 
 Q. What resolutions are the videos saved? 
Videos are saved at the following resolutions:
• Low: 320x240
• Med: 640x640
• High: 1280x720
 
 Q. How large are the videos? 
The file size depends on the dimensions and length of your video.
• Low(~3.2MB per minute)
• Medium (~26MB per minute)
• High (~170MB per minute)
 
 Q. How long can The Stage App videos be? 
Depending on the remaining storage capacity of your device, you may be able to save videos as long as 120 minutes. But we recommend keeping your videos short to keep them manageable. Keep in mind that video sharing sites, like YouTube, generally limit video lengths. Also, long videos will take a long time to save, export, and send.
 
 Q. Why can't I email large videos in the Photos app? 
Apple’s Photos app will only allow you to email a very short video, less than a minute in length. One work around is to transfer the files to your computer by connecting your iPad with your USB cable.
 
 Q. How do I post my video to Vimeo or another video sharing site? 
Most video sharing sites, including Vimeo, have their own free apps that make it easy to upload videos from your iPad.
 
 Q. The Stage App crashed. Help! 
The Stage App is memory-and processor-intensive. We have tested the app extensively on all generations of iPad running iOS version 6.0 and above as well as compatibly listed Android devices running 4.2 and above. But if you run into crashes we would like to know. Please contact us and provide following details: which version of iPad, tablet or phone you are using, what OS version is installed, the last action you took before experiencing the crash, and whether or not you continue to have crashes after restarting the device. We appreciate your input so we can make the Stage app awesome.
 
 Q. I switched to another app and when I returned my presentation was lost. Help! 
We recommend that you stop recording and let your video save to the photo library before you exit the app. iOS will “clean up” after you, depending on what you are doing outside the app, removing your partially-recorded video from memory with no way to recover it.
 
 Q. Can I use The Stage App videos in iBooks Author? 
Absolutely! Videos made with the Stage App must first be converted to .m4v format. To convert a video file:
• Open the file in QuickTime 10.1 or later
• Choose File > Export
Do one of the following:
• To create up to a 420p movie: Select “iPod touch & iPhone 3GS”
• To create up to a 720p movie: Select “iPad, iPhone 4& Apple TV”
• For the best quality, select the 720p (iPad) option. If you’re concerned about file size or want better performance, use 420p (iPod touch)
• Click Export
